Tags are a critical factor, a crucial component that has a significant impact on the total cost of an RFID project for a hotel laundry service. While RFID waterproof tags for textiles from major suppliers meet international performance standards, not all are the same.

Tags differ in size, appearance, application technique and durability. These, apparently small differences, can affect the good results of the implementation of a project by a lodging establishment. Before choosing the RFID tag that you are going to use in your establishment, it is essential that you consider the following:

  • Not all the tags support, sometimes, the severe processes that occur in laundries: washing, sanitising, pressing, drying, calendering and bending. Always ask yourself about the performance specifications.
  • Sewing tags on the seams of textiles can be the best, especially if textile manufacturers do. The size of the tag is critical so carefully weigh the choice of the tag size with your supplier
  • Larger tags that can adhere to textiles by heat work well for standard textiles, but will not work as well for terry articles and are less attractive for high-end items and demanding customers.
  • Labels that can be sewn directly on textiles do not always work well in all of them.
  • If you decide to use bags to attach the tags, it is preferable to use smaller tags.
  • If the client owns the textiles and we offer to label them, we will always do so, making sure we have their permission and approval.

Employing combinations of two different tags is often a correct option. Sometimes it may be necessary to resort to several tag suppliers or select a supplier that can offer us a variety of options that we need.
